The Shri Sharanabasaveshwar College of Pharmacy, Vijayapur, observed the 3rd National cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) Day with great enthusiasm on 10th October 2025.
The event aimed to create awareness among students and faculty about the importance of maintaining quality standards in pharmaceutical manufacturing and ensuring the safety, efficacy, and reliability of medicines.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. Shivakumar Hugar delivered insightful key principles of cGMP, its implementation in the pharmaceutical industry, and its role in safeguarding public health. The program emphasized the responsibility of every pharmacist in upholding ethical and professional standards to meet global quality expectations.
Faculty members and students actively participated and reaffirmed their commitment to quality assurance and excellence in pharmaceutical education and practice.

Shri Sharnabasaveshwar College of Pharmacy, Vijayapur, celebrated World Pharmacist Day on 25th September 2025 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, faculty, and healthcare professionals. The theme for this year’s celebration, “Think Health – Think Pharmacist”, highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in ensuring safe and effective use of medicines and their contribution to public health.
The program was graced by Prof. S. K. Patil, Chairman of the Governing Council & Retired Professor of Pharmacy, who served as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honor was Mr. Ramesh Biradar, President of Vijayapur District Pharmacy Officers’ Association. On this occasion, seven Government Pharmacists were also felicitated in recognition of their dedicated services to society.
The celebration began with a formal inauguration, followed by a keynote address that emphasized the importance of pharmacists in strengthening healthcare systems. Various activities such as seminars, poster presentations, health awareness campaigns, and quiz competitions were organized to engage the students and spread awareness about the significance of pharmacy as a profession.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. H. Shivakumar highlighted that pharmacists are the backbone of the healthcare system, ensuring quality, safety, and accessibility of medicines. He urged students to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity through their professional knowledge and skills.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of management, dignitaries, faculty, students, and participants who made the program a grand success.
An orientation program was organized at Shri Sharanabasaveshwar College of Pharmacy, Vijayapur on 25th September 2025 for the B. Pharm and D. Pharm students of the academic year 2025-26.
The event commenced with a prayer song, followed by a welcome speech. Principal Dr. H. Shivakumar addressed the students, elaborating on the institution’s vision, mission, and academic achievements. He emphasized that qualities like discipline, dedication, and innovation are pivotal in shaping the students' future careers and academic success.
The ceremony was graced by Prof. Shri S. K. Patil, Chairman of Governing Council, Dr. Mahendra Kapse, Chief Administrative Officer, and esteemed guests, including Dr. Shiraj Awati and Retd. Colonel Firoz Karlekar, who shared their best wishes with the students.
During the orientation, both students and their parents were provided with comprehensive information regarding the curriculum, examination system, rules and regulations, and the various facilities offered by the college.
The orientation program concluded on a high note, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the new students.

Guest Talk was organised at Shri Sharana Basaveshwar college of pharmacy on the topic “Scope and Job Opportunities in Clinical Research” on 26th July 2025.
The resource person Mrs. Anita Patil, Clinical Team Lead at Labcorp Drug Development, Bengaluru. With her vast industry experience shared an in-depth overview of the clinical research landscape, its relevance in the current healthcare ecosystem and the multiple career opportunities available for pharmacy graduates and postgraduates in MNCs. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The talk not only introduced attendees to the various phases of clinical trials and regulatory aspects but also offered practical insights into the roles and skills required to excel in the clinical research domain.

The RGUHS Digital Valuation Centre was ceremoniously inaugurated at the Shri Sharanabasaveshwar Group of Institutions (SSBGI) campus in Vijayapur . The inaugural event was graced by Miss Samprada S. Patil, Executive Director , SSBGI, and Dr. Mahendra Kapse CAO The ceremony witnessed the presence of Dr. Shivakumar Hugar, Principal, SSB College of Pharmacy , Mr. Iranna Shiral Shetty, Principal, SSB College of Nursing (SSB CN), and Mr. Prajawal, Principal , SSB PU Science College, along with faculty members from all constituent colleges of the group.
As part of the inauguration ceremony, a pooja was offered to Lord Basavanna, seeking divine blessings for the successful functioning of the centre. Sweets were distributed as prasaad to all faculty members and attendees, marking the auspicious beginning of this academic initiative.

International Yoga Day was celebrated at Shri Sharana Basaveshwara College of Pharmacy on 21st June with the theme Yoga for One Earth, One Health.
To mark this occasion, the NSS Unit of Shri Sharanabasaveshwar College of Pharmacy, Vijayapura organized a special yoga session and awareness program under the guidance of expert yoga trainers Mr. Shrikant and Mr. Appasaheb, in the presence of respected dignitaries and faculty members.

A structured yoga session was led by trained instructors Mr. Shrikant and Mr. Appasaheb, involving over 150 NSS volunteers, students, and staff members. The session included:
Principal Dr. H. Shivakumar, Mr. Prajwal S. Principal PU Science College addressed students about the importance of Yoga in maintaining Good health. NSS Volunteers and Pharmacy and PU College students actively participated in the program.
A placement drive was successfully organized on 20th June 2025 at Shri Sharana Basaveshwar College of Pharmacy for D.Pharm and B.Pharm students. The drive was conducted in collaboration with MedPlus, one of the leading pharmacy retail chains in India.
The event was held in the presence of our Principal, Administrator, and the Assistant Manager - HR of MedPlus, Mr. Sadrak Sir. The session began with a welcome address and brief introduction about the visiting recruiter.
Students from both D.Pharm and B.Pharm programs actively participated in the drive.
This drive was a valuable opportunity for our students to interact directly with industry professionals and understand the expectations of the healthcare sector. We thank the management, faculty, and support staff for their cooperation in organizing this event smoothly.
Guest Talk on “Teaching Methods & Evaluation” was organised at shri Sharanabasaveshwar College of Pharmacy, Vijayapur on 20th June 2025 at the college seminar hall.
The resource person for the event was Prof. Dr. Hussainmiya D. H., Principal, BLDEA’s College of Education, Jamakhandi.
Prof. Dr. Hussainmiya delivered an engaging and thought-provoking session, highlighting innovative teaching strategies, classroom management techniques, and modern approaches to student assessment.
His interactive and experience-rich talk was well-received by both faculty and students.
The session was coordinated by Mr. Siddaram Bagalakote, and the event was presided over by Dr. Shivakumar Hugar, Principal of the college.
Faculty members and students actively participated and expressed their appreciation for the enriching session.

The event was organized under the theme "Ending Plastic Globally", emphasizing the urgent need to eliminate plastic pollution and adopt sustainable alternatives.
Dr. Mahendra Kapse, Sir, Chief Administrative Officer graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful address, encouraged the students and faculty to take proactive steps toward a plastic-free future.
Dr. Shivakumar Hugar, Principal, Shri Sharanabasaveshwara College of Pharmacy, greeted the gathering and highlighted the green initiatives and impact of global warming.
Mr. Iranna Shiralshetty, Principal, Shri Sharanabasaveshwara College of Nursing, and
Mr. Prajwal, Principal, SSB PU Science College, also addressed the students, stressing interdisciplinary collaboration for environmental sustainability and impact of use non biodegradable items on environment.
Mr. Vinod Babaleshwar, NSS Program Officer, coordinated various awareness activities including tree plantation and a plastic-free campus pledge.

The program concluded with a collective pledge to reduce, reuse, and refuse plastic, marking a strong step forward in environmental stewardship
